Stoneworks: Minimal and Modern in Texas

Sometimes the most impressive and memorable design projects are the least complex.

While the notably simple pattern and stone layout may have been a far less complicated project than others in Maiden Stone’s diverse portfolio of work, the Texas-based project received an award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

“The point is, it doesn’t have to be super complicated. It can be gorgeous in its simplicity,” says Maiden Stone’s Founder and President Sandra Jonas Desguin of the modern design. “It can be clean and simple and showcase only the true beauty of the stone.”

While Maiden Stone’s team typically works on projects with varying degrees of complexity, this one stood out to the team for embodying what the company is all about: showcasing the natural beauty of stone.

As Jonas Desguin says, “Just choosing a gorgeous material and letting it stand on its own can be sufficient. The right material in the right context can be beautiful enough.”
